OIL/WATER/SOLIDS SEPARATORS

  • Designed for highly contaminated trade waste and wash down wastewater treatment to remove oil and suspended solids from water
  • Independently tested to achieve less than 5 mg/L hydrocarbons in treated water from a heavily contaminated raw water containing 5000mg/L hydrocarbons
  • Sydney Water approved
  • Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) appraised*
  • A choice of annealed stainless steel (304) or marine grade stainless steel (316) for greater durability, strength, corrosion resistance and appearance
  • Superior Vertical Tube Coalescing (VTC) technology facilitates better flow, serviceability and durability
  • Treatment capacity ranges from 720L/h to >250,000L/h
  • Above ground installation means easy install, maintenance, or relocation if required
  • Pumped system design ensures the correct flow rate for reliable treatment
  • Spare parts are readily available and can be delivered overnight to most locations
  • A choice of helical rotor or diaphragm pumps are available

WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Separators or in ground interceptors are excellent and affordable for primary treatment, to remove free floating hydrocarbons (such as diesel, hydraulic fluid and oil) and larger suspended solids from wastewater.  This form of treatment is required prior to trade waste (sewer) discharge. However it's important to note they do not provide the secondary or tertiary treatment that is required for reliable compliant environmental discharge or safe reuse.  No separator or interceptor can be relied on to treat industrial wastewater to a standard suitable for compliant environmental discharge, recycling or reuse, for the following reasons:

  • They do not adjust the pH of the water
  • They do not remove heavy metals (including dissolved metals)
  • They do not remove light suspended solids (e.g. coal fines, and clay particles)
  • Under normal operating conditions (e.g. when detergents or surfactants are present), they do not remove emulsified hydrocarbons to a suitable level
  • They do not provide disinfection required in reuse applications where there may be human contact (including dust suppression applications)
